Vision Statement

Canary Club is a health advocacy group created to help you take charge of your own health care.

Health issues related to hormone imbalance are reaching epidemic proportions and are often not being adequately addressed.  We believe that you need to know what is impacting your hormone health, and saliva and blood-spot diagnostic tests have proven themselves to be an accurate assessment.  
 
A founding principle of Canary Club is that these diagnostic tests need to be accessible to you, at home, without the added cost or inconvenience of an office visit. To be accessible, they need to be affordable. We set our prices to the minimum level allowed by the labs we use.

For over a decade, Canary Club has been a major voice in the growing social awareness movement grappling to understand hormone levels and their impact on one's health.

About the Founders

Lynn Larkin, Co-Founder

Born and raised in NYC, Lynn has been involved with social issues including non-profit fundraising, transformational education, women's issues and personal growth for many years. She has trained in business and management and used her skills in a wide variety of fields. As an accredited Life Coach, Lynn was acutely aware of the effect health and wellbeing had on a client’s productivity and satisfaction with life.

With the current state of our environment, skyrocketing health care costs and medical professionals who are overwhelmed and lack resources, Lynn saw a great need for education as well as affordable home testing and products for those with hormonal imbalance and environmentally caused health issues. She noticed that it was often difficult to receive accurate diagnosis and support of ailments that were clearly debilitating, in a health system that was expensive and too often unresponsive to those who ‘just were not feeling well’. It is from this reality that the Canary Club was born.

Karilee H. Shames, Ph.D., RN, Co-Founder and Advisor

Promoting Holistic Healing Through Education and Leadership

Dr. Shames is a Certified Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric Nursing and in Holistic Nursing. In 1977 she co-founded Nurses in Transition, a national nursing support network. She created a unique nursing program co-sponsored by a university and an integrative medical clinic, has been certified in several healing modalities, has served as Administrator of psychiatric facilities and as a mentor to other nurses in creative higher educational programs. Karilee served on the National Leadership Council for the American Holistic Nurses Association from 1995-1998. She was Assistant Professor of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University from 1999-2002. Previously she was California Coordinator, Director-at-Large, and Public Relations Chair for the American Holistic Nurses Association.

Her books include: The Nightingale Conspiracy (Enlightenment Press 1993), Creative Imagery in Nursing (Delmar Publishers 1995), Energetic Approaches to Emotional Healing (Delmar, 1996), The Gift of Health (Bantam 1982, with Richard Shames), Thyroid Power (2001, with R. Shames), Feeling Fat, Fuzzy or Frazzled (2005, with R. Shames) and numerous chapters for professional volumes.

She is presently in private practice in collaboration with Dr. Richard Shames at the Preventive Medicine Center of Marin in San Rafael, California, and is working on her next book.

Thank You So Much for Making It Easy - I Can't Do Anything Hard Right Now

I have been feeling "off" - just generally unwell for about eighteen months. I tried a bit of this and a bit of that - but nothing seemed to help. I don't have health insurance, so the cost of doctors, consultation, testing and treatments was a real concern to me.

A friend recommended I try you just to find out if it was my hormones causing this malady, as I suspected. She said just knowing what was causing this feeling lousy could help; so I registered and ordered a test.
 
It was sooo easy. Thank you so much for making it easy - I can't do anything hard right now, my brain just won't allow it. The tests arrived quickly and were super easy to use. Again, the easy factor and with it my gratitude. Thank you so much for the great, clear, easy-to-follow instructions.
 
When the results arrived I was relieved to know my hormones weren't as out of whack as I had suspected. Thank goodness. I have been taking natural supplements and I am actually starting to feel better.  
 
I must say though, my friend was right, just knowing my hormones were out of whack (but not too dramatically out) really gave me peace of mind. They say the mind has a lot to do with healing - I believe it and I am sure the supplements help a lot too.

Has By Far the Best Price

I'm delighted with the number of tests per panel and the very reasonable price. I've researched a number of places and Canary Club has by far the best price and the greatest number of tests per panel.

What a wonderful thing you've done for women's health by starting this club. It's especially helpful for those of us who live in CA to be able to order tests without having to first get a dr's prescription. I belong to Kaiser and of course they only order 'run of the mill' tests and even if you're found to be hormone deficient they trot out the synthetics.

Thank you Canary Club! The Advanced Plus test has changed my life, literally. I've been suffering for so long to the point of not being able to work but a few hours a week.
